There are two main types of the printers and the division comes from the installed work mode:

In both cases the data is printed before the product is packed. The printout is made using thermal transfer method. A very thin foil (thermal transfer ribbon) covered by a mixture of a dye and its carrier – wax or resin and wax is placed between the print head and the foil used for packing products. The printhead heats the dye in certain points, dye is released and in this way the demanded printout is generated on the packaging.
